On email and further discussion, indeed a call to action:
Evening gents,
Allow me to make an overture on topics of further discussion and on email as a medium. My friends, texting is a philistine form of communication which hooks one to their phone like a horse to a cart. Our phone sits in our pockets all day vibrating and buzzing, showing bright colors and demanding unceasing attention. We may have 5, 10, or 15 active conversations going at once, never present in the moment on our current tasks and interactions. Using instant messaging forces us to write in clipped sentences, and stymies the full development of thoughts, thoughts which may change how we live and allow us to better our lives -- as well as the lives of those around us. We substitute texting and sharing for face-to-face interaction and speaking, losing those pleasing chemicals our brain releases when we engage in riffing and lively dialogue.
Let us henceforth attack our schedules. Let us be the next Caesar, Churchill, or Teddy Roosevelt. Let us be like a citizen of the ancient roman empire, who does pushups on the edge of a cliff, swims across a river wearing a full suit of armor, dictates 10 letters at once while riding a horse, and reads all of Shakespeare's works forwards backwards and sideways in one day.
Gents, I look forward to the numerous letters (emails) and phone conversations we will share over the years regarding vigorous living and learning in the absence of the caveman behavior which is instant messaging. As an aside, I wrote this after two hours of vegging out by switching to and installing the perfect Graphene OS setup on my phone yet again, thus I apologize for my poor articulation.
Look lively fellas
